Medieval Manuscripts

Many 19th century collectors were interested in medieval manuscripts, Sir Grey was no exception.   He collected medieval manuscripts for both his South African and Auckland collections.  Medieval manuscripts are handwritten books produced before the advent of printing.  Grey’s collection of 27 medieval manuscripts ranges from the 12th to the 15th century.
